Australia squad for U19 World Cup 2024: Full team list and injury updates for AUS | U19 WC 2024
Australia have announced their 15-member squad for the 2024 men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Here is all you need to know about the Australia U19 squad, including the full team list.
The 2024 men’s Under-19 World Cup, the 15th edition of the tournament, will be played in South Africa across January and February 2024.
Australia’s three Under-19 World Cup trophies are the second-most in the tournament’s history, after India’s five titles. They won in 1988, 2002, and 2010, under – in that order – Geoff Parker, Cameron White, and Mitchell Marsh.
This time, they have been placed in Group C, along with Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. Three teams from the group will proceed to Group 2 of the Super Sixes.
Cricket Australia named the 15-member squad for the 2024 Under-19 World Cup on December 11, though they will name their captain later.
Prominent names include Harry Dixon, who made 167 and 83, and 51 and 105 in the Youth Test matches on the England tour of 2023 and was selected to play for the Victoria XI against the touring Pakistan Test squad. Dixon holds a BBL contract with the Melbourne Renegades, as does Sam Konstas with the Sydney Thunder.
“The national youth selection panel worked closely with state talent managers to select the World Cup squad,” assured Sonya Thompson, head of national development at Cricket Australia. “Consideration is given to performances across a variety of competitions. Many of those in the World Cup squad also had development opportunities during tours to Sri Lanka and England this year.”
