Watch: ‘He can’t believe it’ – Adam Zampa drops sitter off his own bowling in BBL
Watch: Adam Zampa failed to grab onto a caught-and-bowl chance, dropping D’Arcy Short on 13 before the batter went on to score his 33rd T20 fifty during the Adelaide Strikers-Melbourne Renegades 2023/24 BBL clash on Friday (December 29).
On the sixth ball of the sixth over, Zampa bowled a shorter ball to Short, who looked to punch it away. But he was early in his shot and only ended up ballooning it to the bowler, who had his hands ready in a reverse cup to take the catch. However, the ball came slower to him than he anticipated and the additional wait time ended in a spill by Zampa, who was left stunned at the missed opportunity.
Short was batting on 13 off 17 at the point and ended up scoring 41 in the next 30 deliveries, helping Adelaide to 177-6 in their 20 overs.
Zampa did not take another wicket in the innings and finished with figures of 0-25 as Melbourne look for their first win of the competition.
