Watch: Harmanpreet Kaur traps Alyssa Healy lbw immediately after obstructing the field appeal
Watch: India captain Harmanpreet Kaur trapped her opposing number, Alyssa Healy, lbw one ball after a controversial obstructing the field appeal on day three of the ongoing women’s Test between India and Australia in Mumbai.
Things heated up on the third evening of the only Test between India women and Australia women at the Wankhede Stadium today (December 23) between the captains of both teams.
In the 80th over of Australia’s second innings, Healy tried to block a throw from Kaur after having played the ball back to her. It resulted in the ball deflecting and heading towards the deep third boundary for four.
Some words were exchanged and Kaur even appealed for an obstructing the field dismissal, which was turned down by the umpire. The drama wasn’t to end there, however.

On the very next ball, Healy, batting on 32 off 100 deliveries, attempted a sweep off a full delivery on the stumps and got rapped on the pads. The umpire didn’t take much time in raising his finger. Healy took a review immediately but ball tracking showed three reds and she had to depart, much to the jubilation of the Indian captain.
It was Harmanpreet’s second wicket of the innings, after having cleaned up Tahlia McGrath in her very first over of the day. Australia ended the day at 233-5, with a lead of 46 runs, setting up what should be a cracking final day if the Australian lower order is able to stretch the lead further.
Earlier in the game, India had amassed 406 in response to Australia’s 219, thanks to half-centuries from four batters: Smriti Mandhana, Richa Ghosh, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Deepti Sharma.

Brave call but seems like a really good decision by the 3rd umpire to give Alyssa Healy out. Clear spike on the snico but the TV umpire is confident the noise is after the ball passes the bat. This is such a good Test. #INDvAUS #cricket pic.twitter.com/AcimNNLwdT
